First Lego League: Classes and Competition

Sign up now and come explore the magic of robotics! WISH and 5 Star are offering a new after school class using robotics to bring science, mathematics, engineering, and technology (SMaRT) to life! This class is designed to prepare students to compete in the upcoming 2014 FIRST LEGO League World Class Challenge. As a unit, the classwill build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. They will also choose and solve a real-world question. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under the FLL signature set of Core Values. Students will learn to design, build and program robots that can solve the most amazing challenges. In addition to robotics programming, students will learn research, presentation, project and time management, resource sharing, teamwork, problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others as a team.
Good to have but not required:
- Earlier participation experience with FIRST LEGO League or other robotic competitions
- Knowledge of NXT and EV3 Lego Robotics Kits
- Experience of any programming and/or technology
The FIRST LEGO League will consist of eight one-hour classes, weekly on Monday afternons. Registration is open to students in 4th -7th grade ONLY. Classes start on Monday, September 15th from 3:15-4:15pm in the STEM Room (room 24 in the Kinder Hallway) and will last eight weeks.
