5 Star Enrichment Classes
FALL 2014 SESSION

Two Sports OR Other Enrichment Class Options per Day for Kindergarten Students. Please enroll only in one per day. To be taught from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Minimum: 6 Students per Class; Maximum 12 Students per Class (then we will start a Waiting List as we try to schedule another Instructor or Assistant)
FUN WITH MATH (2:30-3:30 pm)
Students will have a lot of FUN as we extend and enrich their understanding of Mathematics through fun and interactive activities that promote a sense of numbers and mathematical reasoning based on California Math Standards. The curriculum includes Math games and other activities that teach and reinforce the basics of Math vocabulary, the meaning of numbers, sequencing, money, adding and subtracting, problem solving, geometry, etc.
HIP HOP (2:30-3:30 pm)
Students will have TONS OF FUN learning today’s pop culture style of dance. They will learn to move to their favorite songs and learn routines to music created by their favorite artists. In this class, children will not stop jumping, clapping, turning and performing today’s most popular moves. Not only is this class a great workout, but it is a fun way for children to learn rhythm and coordination. They will put on a performance at the end of the session to show off all of their cool grooves.
DANZENYOGA (2:30-3:30 pm)
If your Child would enjoy a FUN, high energy, fast paced Class where she/he can also learn a variety of skills including how to relax (toward the end of class), this will be the Class for her/him. DANZENYOGA was developed by Ms. Milva and will include elements of Hip Hop, Latin Dances and Yoga with Age Appropriate Music. This Class will promote self-confidence, creativity, coordination, grace, strength, balance, health and happiness. The skills taught will be based on the skill level of the Group.
MARTIAL ARTS MASTERS (2:30-3:30 pm)
Students will enjoy learning the FUNdamentals of Martial Arts, including stance, punches, kicks and blocks. They will warm-up and stretch at the beginning of each class and cool down at the end of class. Emphasis will be placed on safety, the use of their new skills for self-defense only and respect. The benefits of these classes will include learning discipline and focus as well as enhanced self-confidence and self-esteem. No Sparring.
SCIENCE FUN (2:30-3:30 pm)
Enter a World of Science, where Students will have Tons of Fun as they get creative and learn through discussions and hands-on (safe) experiments. These can include Chemistry (e.g., making “slime” and “Elephant’s Toothpaste), Physics (such as Gravity and Defying Gravity by making paper airplanes and racing cars down hills, etc.), Energy/Electricity (e.g., by making cars that run on Solar Energy and learning how Circuits work) and about the Human Body (such as bones, muscles, organs and the importance of being physically fit), and more.
SOCCER EXPERIENCE (2:30-3:30 pm)
Students will have TONS OF FUN while learning FUNdamental Soccer Skills and beginning preparation to play Recreational Soccer for FUN, Leagues, etc. Soccer Skills to be taught and reinforced include dribbling, passing, shooting, offense and defense. Benefits include developing movement skills, eye-foot coordination, enhancing self-confidence, learning teamwork and improving concentration. Mini-Games will be played to reinforce the skills taught.
ART EDVENTURES (2:30-3:30 pm)
Students will have a Lot of Fun as they explore Art in many ways including: Hands-On Art in the Styles of the Great Masters, Art through Story Telling, Art following observation of nature and objects, etc. Students will be taught to draw and make Sculpies. They will have the opportunity to begin learning about color, shapes and shading as well as a sense of space and balance in their designs. Creativity will be encouraged. And don’t be surprised if they learn a little Math and Science during this journey.
TENNIS STARS (2:30-3:30 pm)
Students will have TONS OF FUN while learning TENNIS SKILLS AND A “LOVE” FOR A LIFELONG SPORT. We utilize portable nets and down-sized racquets. The skills taught will vary depending on the level of each group. Some of the Tennis skills that will be taught include grips, forehand, backhand, volleying, rules and scoring. The benefits of these skills include improved eye-hand coordination, improving concentration, sharpening thinking, mathematics, social and communication skills, as well as enhancing self-confidence.
BASKETBALL WORLD (2:30-3:30 pm)
Students will have TONS OF FUN while learning FUNdamental Basketball Skills and beginning preparation to play Recreational Basketball for FUN, Leagues, etc. Basketball Skills to be taught and reinforced include dribbling, passing, shooting, offense and defense. Benefits include developing movement skills, eye-hand coordination, enhancing self-confidence, learning teamwork and improving concentration. Mini-Games will be played to reinforce the skills taught. CHESS CLUB (2:30-3:30 pm)
Learning and playing Chess will seem like fun and games to your children, but as they learn this game played by Kings, they will learn to focus and increase their concentration, build their memory and sequencing skills and enhance their problem solving skills; all are keys to their future academic success. During this session, the Students will learn the FUNdamentals of Chess, including some basic strategies. Min/Max: 6/16
